Scholarship Program

One of the most wonderful by-products of the partnership between the LCDA, Cox Communications and McDonald’s is the  McDonald’s Latino Youth Leader of the Month program it has become a selection process for area universities who wish to reach out to Latino students worthy of scholarships. Students selected as McDonald’s Latino Youth Leaders, and those nominated, have received numerous scholarships. A collaboration with Oklahoma City University has been particularly beneficial because many of the young students selected or nominated by the McDonald’s program have been awarded the Clara Luper scholarship which is $100,000 for four years of study.

Since 2003, over 3.9 million dollars representing 248 scholarships have
been awarded to Latino youth through LCDA programs and partnerships with
area colleges and universities. These scholarships represent an investment in
our youth who will make up the next generation of educated Latino leaders.

All nominees will receive a certificate and will be honored at the LCDA Senior Banquet on May 2011.
